Description

Earrings: Version 1 has Dark Topaz Faceted Glass Teardrops in Gold-Plated Bezel Setting Links, Vintage Pale Yellow/Aventurine Glass Oval/Brass Drops, and 14K Gold-Plated Ball Hooks with Backs; Version 2 has Goldstone Teardrops, Vintage Pale Yellow/Aventurine Glass Oval/Brass Drops, Gold-Plated Hex Bead Spacers, and Gold-Filled Hooks with Backs

Condition: both new and vintage components are in excellent shape

Measurements: the Topaz Glass Teardrop earrings are approximately 2 1/8" long by 1/2" wide (5.40 x 1.27 cm) with drops that are 1 3/4" long (4.45 cm); the Goldstone Teardrop earrings are approximately 2 3/8" long by 1/2" wide (6.03 x 1.27 cm) with drops that are about 1 3/4" long 4.45 cm)

I often find the most lovely and rare jewelry components in antique and resale shops or at shows and even online with companies that specialize in Retro, Vintage, and Antique pieces. It was on one such occasion, when I was rummaging for interesting bits, that I came across these pale yellow glass oval drops that have strands of Aventurine (glittery copper) glass in them! The typical argument with myself ensued: "What are you going to do with these?" "I don't know, but they're really pretty!" "How many people are going to like yellow and copper together?" "I'm not sure, but they're unique and I love them!" The creative side won and kept them stored away for awhile, until the luscious Dark Topaz glass teardrop links appeared online. I immediately liked how the deep topaz glow of the teardrops brought out the coppery strands in the yellow ovals. No other beads, just 14K gold-plated ball hooks, were needed to complete these pretty ear baubles! Not long after that, however, I also found Goldstone (actually glass) teardrops, which looked perfect with the vintage ovals because of the glitter in the stones!

Note: the deeper brown color seen in photos 2 and 3 is more accurate than that shown in photo 1. Also, the brighter yellow in photos 4 and 7 is due to a change in lighting--the yellow in the vintage ovals is a bit softer, as in photos 3 and 6. Also, currently I have in stock only one pair of the Dark Topaz Teardrop earrings but two pairs of the Goldstone Teardrop earrings.

FAQs

Handmade jewelry should be treated gently: do not shower or go swimming while wearing; polish with a soft damp cloth or a silver-polishing cloth; keep in a cool, dry place such as a soft bag or lined box; do not hang necklaces or bracelets--their weight can cause stringing materials to stretch or connecting rings to pull open. If damage does occur, please contact me to discuss repair or replacement.
Please treat temari with respect. Have clean hands when touching them, keep them out of direct sunlight, and display or store them in a dust-free area (or dust off gently as needed). If temari get wet, colors may run; do not scrub threads as they may break. If necessary, please contact me to discuss repair or replacement.
If components of my jewelry have broken due to a flaw in the components or in my construction, I will be happy to make repairs at no charge to you (including return shipping), assuming that I still have the same components available. If they are not available, I will contact you to discuss options for the repair.
For all other reasons for repair, I still will be happy to do whatever I can, usually for a small fee, and assuming that I have the materials required. Buyer is responsible for cost of repair, shipping, and insurance charges.
As for temari, minor thread replacement may be possible depending upon design, location, and availability of thread. Buyer is responsible for cost of repair, shipping, and insurance charges.
