This is a beautiful book, worthy of deep browsing. The large format 1951 edition of "Audubon's Animals: The Quadrupeds of North America" was compiled and edited by Alice Ford and includes 150+ beautiful black & white and color illustrations. There is text pertaining to each animal and a description of how Audubon (and his family and others) labored to make "Quadrupeds" possible.

"This superbly illustrated book with its modern nomenclature eliminates the fiction of nineteenth century mammalogy. Pertinent geographical notes, intermixed with frontier color, comprise valuable contributions not alone to art, buy to science and history."

CONDITION: Plain green linen boards are square and solid. There is edge/shelf wear as well as some fraying to the head and foot of the spine. There are a couple of light stains. Previous owner's name is on the front free end paper. Please consult all photos.
