Be Your Own Sunshine - Sun Mandala Coloring Page - Instant Download PDF

When my oldest child was still a baby, I used to sing a song called "You Are My Sunshine" by Jimmie Davis. It goes:
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away.
At the time I thought the song expressed my feelings for him, but these days, I hesitate to sing it to my children. I am now a firm believer that we are responsible for our own happiness. And if I want my children to truly understand that, I can't be relying on them to be my sunshine. I love them so much that I must give them the freedom to feel what they feel, do what they must, and learn from their own experiences. And I want them to know that their mother will be the steady rock that they can always come back to. If my children are going to copy my behaviors anyway, might as well be a good example! :)
So I choose to be my own sunshine. I will not depend on anyone else to make me happy. I will not let anyone take my sunshine away. I hope you will also take your power into your own hands and bring happiness into your life by coloring this mandala!

You can stamp it, cut it out, make it into a collage, etc. I cut out some sections in this one and placed patterned paper behind it. Go ahead, set your inner child free and color outside the lines - literally and figuratively!!
