Description

This listing is for "Mermaid", which is 12 x 12" mixed media and epoxy resin on wood panel and weighs approximately 7 lbs. Due to the weight of this piece, it is meant to be displayed on a self as opposed to hung on a wall, however the back can be drilled or nailed into to install a good hanger if you wish to hang it.

"Mermaid" is my 2nd attempt at making epoxy resin art and I think she turned out pretty okay.

Our mermaid has long, wavy metallic, red hair and bright blue eyes, featuring turquoise eyeshadow. Over her bare breasts are silver seashells and in her hands, she holds gems and pearls. Her tail is light pearlescent pink with each scale painted with gold, magenta, violet or blue iridescent paint. She swims in a glittery sea surrounded by men's desperate promises of love, that all come with a very sharp price. Each "promise of love" is a sewn heart pillow, punctured with a fish hook, to pluck our heroine out of the sea. The bottom of the piece is anchored with real sand and seashells and my signature in the right-hand corner.

All objects are permanently encased in high-quality epoxy resin and there are no sharp bits to bite little fingers. (That happened during the creation process...)

The frame is crackled white over top of turquoise glitter paint and then varnished.
