Desert Cactus Journal - handmade by Ruth Bleakley - 160 Page Unlined Journal

Description

This beautiful small journal was handmade by bookbinder Ruth Bleakley. This beautiful nature journal was made from a gorgeous calendar I'd been saving, saying "I'm sure I can make something out of this..." The journals I made lay totally flat when they're opened up, which makes writing or sketching easy - This one of a kind journal is the perfect gift for a nature lover, or to use as a travel journal, or a nature sketchbook. There are only 6 in this series:

***For those of you who say "These journals are so pretty I wouldn't want to write in them!" here are some ideas:

How about using it as a daily gratitude journal for 2017, listing 3 things you're thankful for each day? (they can big or small) Then you can look back next year and see how many nice things happened to you. It's one way that you can fight against our current culture of fear and negativity and protect yourself by training your brain to "always look on the bright side of life"

You can also use it as a nature journal - go out and make a sketch of an interesting plant, insect or natural scene on one side, and use the other side of the page to document when and where you were when you made the field observation.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This summer I had the once in a lifetime experience of appearing on Japanese reality TV to visit the factory where I've been purchasing this paper from for the last 10 years, and I even got to make some! That's me in the photo above, putting ink onto the paper with a silk screen stencil - read all about it at : www.bit.ly/JapanShow1

This small journal is a sturdy size 4.5"x6" with dense bookboard covers that won't warp even in the most humid of climates. It contains 160 pages of gorgeous speckled creamy filler paper that I'm so excited about - it's made by a family-owned paper mill called French Paper Co. in Michigan that makes only 100% recycled papers using hydro electric power.

I'm sure you have a paper-loving friend who would enjoy this journal - or maybe you'd like to just keep it for yourself?
