Description

South Carolina is “The Palmetto State.” In 1776, a fort on Sullivan’s Island, made of palmetto logs and under the command of Colonel Moultrie, repelled an attack from the British navy. The defense of Sullivan’s Island was a great victory in Revolutionary War history and credit is due to the strong palmetto logs that withstood a cannon barrage from the British. “The Palmetto State Map” includes the nicknames of some of South Carolina’s most beloved cities. Show off your South Carolina pride with this print on your wall!
