RETRO PRINT of BIG EYED GIRL in Paris by Michel T. - 60's/70's
This original retro print of a big eyed girl beneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris is so adorable. She is obviously a tourist in Paris as she has a camera hanging round her neck and is cradling a miniature Eiffel Tower statue in her cupped hands. There is lots of detail to be studied.
The artist is Michel Thomas, a french man famous for his big eyed children painted amidst scenes from Paris in the 1960's/70's. He signs his work Michel T. and his work has become popular again in recent years.
The print is in its original gold and red wooden frame. The gold paintwork is slightly distressed to show bits of red showing through. This is intentional and gives nuances of shabby chic style. The frame colour complements the rich reds and oranges in the print. The print's colours are bright and unfaded. It is papered on the back and has a framers hanging hook.
30cm (12") x 55cm (22")
Very good vintage condition.
No cracks or major damage. The frame has general scuff marks where red and white paint is showing through the gold in parts. There is light wear to all outside corners (photo 3) and light paint chip wear on one outside corner (photo 5) in line with its age.
Please see my photos.
These days Michel Thomas prints are collected by lovers of retro and are becoming increasingly harder to find. This print is a fantastic size and would look fabulous hanging on the wall in a retro styled home.
