Description

3 pieces/mitts

One size fits all, mitt- glove that has been used for centuries in Turkish Hamams.

This is not a commercial item made in a factory, but rather, at home, from a couple of senior ladies who do this to make a few extra coins. This the original, the real thing. From goat to shear to spin to weave, then to me. These women also make Kilims and Carpets so these, in their own way, are a piece of art. Natural goat hair can have a small variation in color just like the goats they come from.

How to use the goat hair exfoliating mitt.

Use the goat hair glove either wet or dry. The glove is best used with no soap and after a minutes in a hot bath or shower to soften the skin. Place the mitt on the hand and scrub your skin. If you are doing it correctly, you will start to see small rolls of dead skin coming off. Proceed and follow the procedure for the entire body. It is great to have a friend do your back.

At this point, soap sponge your entire body.

You are done and you will be squeaky clean. In the hamams, at this end point, The kesseci or scrubber, actually take their index finger and slides it down your back, upon which you hear the squeak that, years ago, originated the phrase, "squeaky clean".

After use, rinse the glove in fresh warm water and allow to dry. Do not use a washing machine.

Please note when you first start using the glove, a few loose goat hairs will fall out and even after using the glove for a while several goat hairs will be lost. However thousands of goat hairs make up the glove and the gloves are very, very durable.
The wool is of 100% goat hair, in fact it will still smell faintly goat-like! but after the first use it will not be noticeable.

The goat hair exfoliating glove is approximately 19cm x 13cm wide or about 7" x 6".

A small loop is sewn in, in case you want to hang it somewhere.
