Vintage Hand Stitched Kantha Blanket :: OSA

Kantha comes from the Sanskrit word meaning rags. For centuries, Bengali women would sew together their remaining rags and scraps of material in order to create quilts to keep their family warm and protected. Due to the nature of these spontaneous patterns kantha blankets have the unique ability to tell the story of their journey.

Every one of our kantha blankets are handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces. There are are some frayed ends and loose strings but all are a minimum of three layers of material giving them a medium weight.

While these items have been inspected by hand, small tears and/or holes are not uncommon due to the age of these blankets.

blanket measures approximately 52" x 80"
