Description

This locket has such a beautiful antique feel to it, with a shield engraving in the center and an intricate cross-hatch style design. It's very reminiscent of Victorian engravings and symbolism, despite its late Art Deco era history. Its oval shape makes it a great everyday classic piece. We've placed this piece on a newer vintage gold filled chain.

HISTORY: The 835 mark on this piece indicates its of European origin. Overall we date this to the late Art Deco period, 1940's.

MATERIALS: Gold plated 835 silver locket and 12k gold filled chain. 835 represents 83.5% silver, as opposed to sterling's 92.5%.

SIZE: 16" chain. The locket measures 1 3/4" north to south by 15/16" east to west.

CONDITION: Great condition. The locket opens and shuts properly, and has only very minor light scratches and wear. The inside contains its protective covers for photos. The chain is new-old-stock/never used.

This locket would make a wonderful gift, particularly for someone seeking a charm with protective symbolism.

Additional policies

∞ JEWELRY CONCIERGE ∞
We offer jewelry concierge services; if you're seeking a particular antique or vintage jewel for yourself or as a gift, please reach out to us at info@staceyfaydesigns.com and we can get started with the search.

∞ RESIZING ∞
We do offer jewelry resizing for most rings - please contact us prior to purchase. Resizing cost is $35.

∞ JEWELRY CARE ∞
Any jewelry, whether new or vintage, requires care. Jewelry should always be the first thing you take off at night and the last thing you put on in the morning, and remove jewelry when showering, exercising, sleeping, hand washing, or using moisturizer or other chemicals.

For jewelry you wear frequently, particularly rings, we recommend taking them into your local jeweler every six months to a year for inspection. This helps ensure that prongs and gems are secure and not at risk of damage or loss. This is true even if you purchase an item in perfect condition, as jewelry wears down over time.

We guarantee that items are as described, but we do not guarantee they won't need maintenance or repair due to use and wear after purchase. These are vintage and antique pieces which have had a long history, and which require care. Enjoy your jewelry and don't be fearful to wear it, just be mindful with its care.

∞ PRELOVED ∞
The items in our shop are estate, vintage and antiques (except for any handmade antique style pieces such as the wax seal pendants), and as such, each has its own character and imperfections, and are not new pieces. We always fully describe condition and imperfections in our listings so that you have the information you need when making a purchase. Our jewelry has many tales to tell and a long history, making for truly unique and one-of-a-kind additions to your wardrobe.

∞ DIAMOND & JEWELRY ESTIMATIONS∞

For most of the diamond pieces in the shop, the diamonds are an older cut, such as old mine cut or European cut. These diamonds have a different shape than modern brilliant cut diamonds - deeper culets, off-round shapes and higher tables - so the exact weight of these older diamonds is difficult to determine using modern formulas unless you remove the stone from the piece. Thus weights given for diamonds in the shop are an estimation/approximate.

The history and dating of pieces in the shop is an estimation based on all the evidence we can gather - type of stone, metal, details, maker's marks, etc. - and we also get outside expert input consistently. We do our best to understand, and articulate to you, the wonderful history of each of our pieces.

∞ Appraisals∞

We do not offer appraisal information for items in our shop unless specifically stated in the listing. Typically, appraisals are only done for items in the shop over $2,000. Please do see our reviews - you'll see many people have purchased diamonds and more expensive jewelry from us, and all are very happy!
