Description

This vintage science magazine is the April 1960 Science and Mechanics Magazine!

This magazine is also full of some really fun and informative articles and vintage ads with all of that 1960s charm, including ads for schools, bodybuilding, and the art of "mental domination" :D

There was also a little paper 15 in 1 shop guide in the middle of this magazine. It came from Popular Science in 1961, and has different rulers and gauges for nails, bolts, screws, and you can also use it as a compass.

The magazine has some writing on the front, as you can see in the photos. It also has yellowed, some bent, and some dog eared pages. It also smells like an old book. The cover also has damage on the front, the spine, and the back.

Inside this issue, featured topics include:

Convert your car to any fuel
Free-form tree house for kids
Concrete "Umbrella" homes slash maintenance costs
Thermoplastic tape for instant home movies
Solar volt electronic supercharger - a product test
Draftsmen crawl around on drawing board
Meeting the newest compacts
Scientists "anchor" flame to solve jet and missile problems
First photo of the polio virus inside the human cell
Flight testing of the new Cessna 210
Parade of new patents
"Firefly" rocket would fight blazes
Giant earth packer speeds highway building
Man made "lightning" forms metals
Make 'em toe the dotted line
Man-powered airplanes are coming
Map shows your town's rust rate
Portable dust hood for lab work
New generator has no moving parts
Performance report on the Valiant
Robot stethoscope
New tools for workshops

Plus:

What's new in boating
Home built hydrofoils, part 2

Blueprints:

3-octave, 120-bass chord organ (torn out from book and slightly torn, but included)
Instant Action portable tape recorder (still attached in magazine)

Special Departments:

Readers' Round Table
Your workshop and mine
DIY Guides
What's New
Science Briefs
Here's to your health
How to do it (DIY vacation trailer plans, spoon rack, handy grabbers, wind chimes, colander lamp shade, etc.)

Returns and exchange details

I try to accurately describe my items for sale, but please contact me first if an item doesn't work out for you after you receive it. Refunds will be made if you return the item to me in the condition in which it was sent to you. Refunds can take a couple of billing cycles to show up in your account. You will be responsible for the cost of return shipping.

Exact exchanges are not possible, since these are mostly one of a kind vintage items, but if something goes amiss and you want an exchange, please contact me to discuss options.

I send all items with insurance at this time, except for vintage gift wrap and some other paper ephemera items, including vintage greeting cards/card fronts, which are sent in a rigid envelope vs a thicker package, to keep the paper safe and to save money. Please contact me if something goes awry with these items so I can help make sure you are a satisfied buyer.

If an insured item arrives damaged, please save it and all of the packaging and contact me. I will ask you to send photos of everything so that I can file an insurance claim and get your money back to you for the damage.

I have had very, very few issues with packages going missing or getting lost in the mail. But if that does happen, please let me know before leaving a review. I would like to do everything I can try to make you a satisfied customer even if your purchase doesn't arrive!

Here are some updates to purchases made in the EU that customers want to return. I have quoted a couple of parts that pertain to my shop, but the full version can be viewed here:

https://www.etsy.com/legal/policy/eu-directive-on-consumer-rights/242644519829

"Buyers residing in countries that are subject to these regulations have the right to return an item within 14 days of receiving the item. Sellers affected by the regulations must clearly inform buyers residing in these countries about their right to return an item before the buyer makes a purchase (such as in the listing or the seller’s shop policies). Failure to do so will extend the withdrawal period by an additional year, meaning that buyers will have a period of one year and 14 fourteen days in which to return the item.

...

If a buyer exercises their right to return an item, a seller must reimburse all payments, including the original shipping charges, received from the buyer. If a seller has not received returned goods from a buyer, the seller may withhold such reimbursement provided that reimbursement occurs within 14 days of receipt of the returned goods. The buyer is responsible for paying return shipping costs unless the seller has agreed to bear those costs. If a seller has not agreed to bear return costs and the item cannot, due to its nature, be returned by post, an estimate of the return costs should be included in the information provided to the buyer relating to cancellation and return."

Here is a link to the cancellation form needed by me if you return an item: http://extfiles.etsy.com/cancellation-forms/EUCancellationFormEN.pdf

Please just ask if you have any questions. Thanks!

Thank you!

Shipping policies

I ship within two business days of payment, and I often use clean recycled packaging for shipping.

If shipping costs are significantly lower than what I charged you, you will receive a partial refund via PayPal or Etsy, depending on how you paid me. This refund can take a couple of billing cycles to show up in your account.

International shipments may be subject to taxes, VAT, duties, and customs fees upon arrival in your country. These rates are set by the country in which you live and you will be responsible for these fees at the time of purchase and/or when your purchase arrives. VAT and customs fees are not included on the prices that you see in my shop.

Books will often be sent via Media Mail to save money on postage, meaning they will take a little longer than "normal" to get to you.

U.S. state sales tax might be added by Etsy to your purchase in my shop, per the laws of your state.

Items you purchase come from a smoke-free home, but I mainly sell vintage items I have purchased from someone who may have smoked and/or had pets. I try to describe any flaws including odors, but please keep in mind that my sense of smell might be weaker than yours.

Please contact me with any questions you have and I'll see what I can do to accommodate your needs. Need more photos of anything or additional info? Just ask. Thanks!

Please ask if you want me to cut a piece of fabric in the length that you need. I will usually be more than happy to oblige, unless it is a really small piece, typically under one yard!

People have asked me for the measurements of the dress form I use to display clothing.
Most of the clothing featured in my shop uses these dress form measurements:
Just the white part of the torso: 26" long (66.04 cm)
Neck circumference: 13" (33.02 cm)
Shoulder to shoulder: 16" across (40.64 cm)
Bust circumference: 34" around (86.36 cm)
Waist circumference: 26.5" around (67.31 cm)
Hip circumference: 36" around (91.44 cm)

Measurements for each piece of clothing are taken with it laid out flat. You would double these measurements to get a general idea of circumference.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
