This is a Vintage Hartmann Tweed & Belting Leather 'Gray Tweed ' Combined Attache and Commuter Case in very good condition. The combination allows the commuter to pack his clothing and his files into one case for an overnight business trip. Carry this on the plane with you and pop it open in your seat without fear of exposing your clothing or personal items because of the snap in divider. This is a rare 5 inch wide case ( as opposed to the standard 4 inch wide case) that makes it all that more functional for commuters.
There is something about how all of the elements of style color and utility go together that makes this case irresistible to many of its owners. This vintage style Hartmann 4" attache briefcase is the reason I decided to start collecting vintage briefcases. This particular style case is identical to the style of the first Hartmann I purchased except my first Hartmann was all leather. When I received my first Hartmann case I was immediately attracted to all of its elements. The thick leather handle and straps portray the owner as someone with strength and substance while brass hinges and tan belting leather project a diligent work ethic. The Hartmann tweed and belting leather briefcase has an additional element of tweed which goes well with the tan belting leather. Like the all leather Hartmann, this case has four interior leather pouches. The double leather fan compartments are large enough to hold a 15 inch Dell laptop and an I Pad. This case also has a functional combination lock.
The case has plenty of room for your vintage calculator (slide ruler) or more modern tools in the form of a 15 " Dell Laptop, an IPad or both. In fact, this case will carry all three tools at the same time with room to spare.
Length: 18 inches
Width; 5 inches
Height: 13 inches
The case is very good condition. There are no rips, tears or holes in the case. The hardware and latches function properly. The combination lock functions properly and the combination is known. The tweed is in fine shape and the thick leather handle and straps create a striking contrast to the tweed. However, the handle is darker from use and it has several scrapes on the side moldings. There is also a faded monogram on one of the side straps where KJR is engraved on the leather. The inside of the case is very clean with few marks or spots. However, there is a faint remainder of newspaper pring on the commutache divider panel. The upper fan file is in excellent condition.
