Vetiver is one of those love/hate scents. I LOVE it. To me, it is sensual and earthy—and quite unlike any other scent out there. But some people don't love it so much. So if you're not familiar with vetiver (and you're not adventurous in your lotion endeavors), that's fair warning. In this formula, the vetiver is balanced with spicy clove and warming vanilla.

Stonegrass Farms natural lotion creams work wonderfully on your hands, face and body. These are thick, rich lotions perhaps unlike anything you've ever used before, so read on to learn more!

My guiding philosophy in developing my all-natural lotions was to use incredibly simple, organic ingredients to create something that truly makes your skin feel great. Soothing ingredients like shea butter and jojoba oil are whipped with melted beeswax to create a rich cream. Check out the ingredients list—these are all things that you can feel great about putting on your skin.

When you first apply the lotion, you'll notice it doesn't feel like a typical store-bought product. For the first 10 seconds, as you rub it in, you might even feel that it's quite oily. But just wait a few more seconds. Trust me! As you continue to rub it in and let it soak in for another 20 seconds or so, suddenly it just feels like this amazing, nourishing, moisturizing, magical substance. Your skin will be singing for joy like a choir of angels. It's that good.

All lotions require some kind of emulsifying ingredient, and many such ingredients are highly processed. Commercial manufacturers use these less-than-natural options to make products that are very shelf-stable for long periods of time. I've opted for a different route. I use beeswax from a nearby sustainable apiary for my homemade lotions because it's natural, nourishing, and locally sourced. While I consider this is a much better product, it does mean that my lotions aren't going to be shelf-stable for years and years. They're best used within about three months. (I've never had a problem using one up in that timeframe because it works so great that I want to put it on every day!)

Because this beeswax-based lotion is free of additives and stabilizers, it may start to separate slightly after several weeks of use. All this means is that you'll notice droplets of liquid forming on the lotion's surface. You can simply pour these off and continue using. While this might slightly affect the product's aesthetics, it doesn't affect its quality.

I have to warn you that after you start using this homemade lotion cream, other lotions may start feeling kind of watery and insubstantial to you. You may never want to go back to the commercial stuff again! Oh, and one final tip: If you're someone who shaves your legs, there's nothing like shaving in the bath or shower and then applying this cream. It's heavenly. It's addicting. It's magic.

A note on packaging:
I strive to use reusable, recyclable, reused and upcycled packaging and shipping materials for my products. My body lotion creams come in reusable mason jars—one of my favorite types of containers, which can be put to infinite uses.

Because you are so special:
If you’re a first-time customer, your purchase from Stonegrass Farms Soap Co. comes with a free surprise gift! That means you’ll get to enjoy a few days of rapt anticipation before you receive your package in the mail! (Free gift does not apply if your order is heading to a gift recipient.)
