Pottery and ceramics have been an important part of human culture for thousands of years. From prehistoric storage jars to tiles on the space shuttles, pottery and ceramics have played a key role in innumerable human endeavors.

WEDGING
Wedging is the process of mixing the clay by hand by rotating and pressing a clay ball on a table. The purpose is to thoroughly homogenize the clay and to remove all air bubbles. This is particularly important, as the presence of air bubbles in the clay will result in explosions in the kiln as the air pockets expand and burst. The pot is ruined, as is any other pot near it in the kiln. One knows if there is air in their clay if they see holes, like in Swiss cheese, when they slice through the clay with a wire.

First of all, doing business with Daniel was hassle free and a pleasant experience. The pieces I bought were meticulously packaged and shipped in a timely matter. I received them within a week of my purchase (impressive given that these were shipped from Bulgaria). Now to the quality of the pottery. Gorgeous and unique! The colors are vibrant. The items matched their description. I love them and they most definitely surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend Daniel's pottery.

I purchased three renditions of the salt/pepper shakers and two were just exquisite, but this one fell short and wasn’t of the same quality or caliber of the other pieces from this very talented artisan. The glaze is uneven so there are rough spots that stand out since there’s no sheen to them. Unlike the piece pictured, the white spiral design has an unpleasing green tinge on some areas of the spiral that bleeds onto the red glaze. I’m a bit disappointed since this piece was purchased to gift so I reluctantly have to gift one of the two beautiful pieces I purchased for myself 😏

It was like opening Tut's tomb, without the odor. The packing of my new treasured one of a kind FANTASTICAL teapot ensured he would arrive safely into my adoring hands. I mean look. If you let your mind wander, he can be a turn of the century one man firefighter off to squelch Lady Eloise's flames. Another view shows him in a top hat raising his arms in exclamation at seeing the other works of this amazing artist. What a treat to own such an amazing pot on wheels. I think I'll name him NIgel. Thank you so much, Julie Freeman

Even more beautiful in person. High gloss shine; rich, deep red, orange, and blue; beautiful detail and overall quality. Wanted an extra special sugar bowl for coffee time, and this bowl is exactly what I wanted.
