Description

This poem is entitled, "When You Were In My Belly," and was written while I was pregnant with my first child- not knowing if I was having a boy or a girl. Levi ended up a boy! This framed poem would make a great gift for a mom - to - be or for a Mama-to-Be to gift herself! There is a boy, girl or gender neutral ending that can be customized into any design- just specify in a note when you order which ending you would like. If you select "Custom Poem," I can also put the baby's name in the last line.
I hope you enjoy! Feel free to message me with any questions you may have! Also available as a digital download- either sized 8x10 or 11x14.

When you were in my belly
The first moment that I knew,
I was filled with pure excitement,
Then reality set in, too.
Had this really happened?
Could it even be true,
That a mother you would make me,
Beginning an adventure I never knew.

When you were in my belly
At first, it was hard to believe you were real,
Growing from a tiny size,
To a baby I could feel.
Hearing your speeding heartbeat
And seeing on the screen,
Two small hands with little fingers,
And strong kicking feet.

When you were in my belly
I began to wonder how it would be,
To raise you from a baby,
To an adult just like me.
Would I have what it takes
To raise you up just right?
Would I know how to feed and soothe you,
And help you sleep through the night?

When you were in my belly
I thought of where our world is today,
A place full of uncertainties,
Where would it be safe for you to play?
Could we steer you away
From making mistakes we made?
Teach you to learn from your choices,
And come out stronger at the end of the day?

When you were in my belly
I wanted to be sure that I would set,
An example of love, courage and kindness,
That you would grow to not forget.
I wanted to teach you to see others
For who they are inside,
To show compassion for all things
And let your heart be your guide.

When you were in my belly
The doctor said it was time to go,
Motherhood would soon begin,
And my heart would overflow.
Now welcome to this world Little One
Your time in my belly is done,
I am your Momma,
And you, sweet baby boy, are my son.

*Girl Ending- "And you, Sweet Baby Girl, are my Special One"
*Alternate Gender Neutral Ending- Last Line- "And our journey together has only just begun"
