Description

Husain Haddaway’s translation of The Arabian Nights is considered to be one of the finest translations available. The stories first began arriving in Europe about 1700 and seemed so exotic that they became immediately popular, possibly even an obsession. “Everyman’s Library” began reprinting classic literature and poetry in 1906 and has continued the tradition of reprinting fine and accessible editions. The Arabian Nights was first published by Everyman’s Library in 1907.

DESCRIPTION: An Everyman’s Library edition, published by Alfred A Knopt, 1995. The title page includes the printed # 142, apparently their 142nd classic published (Arabian Nights Vol I was # 87). Hardback, greyish-green cloth covered boards, with sewn-in ribbon marker, no dust jacket. The cover and spine have the title stamped in gold on marbled black, single illustration, a map of "The World of the Arabian Nights II". The book is 5 x 8 ¼ inches, 266 pages, 14 stories including 8 Sindbad stories, “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and Ala al-Din (Aladdin) and the Magic Lamp.

CONDITION: Like new except that there appears to be a shadow on the back cover from an old price sticker that is not noticeable to the naked eye but show up clearly in the photo. There is no shelf wear, no bumped corners, all pages are present, clean and tight.

  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
While I want to cover my costs, it is not my intent to make a profit on shipping. I do my best to estimate shipping costs accurately, but sometimes it's off depending upon packing material available at the time. If my shipping cost estimate is more than $1.00 over the actual shipping cost I will credit your account for the difference.

For purchasers with a shipping address is California, I collect and remit California State Sales Tax.

Returns & exchanges

I don't accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
Returns and exchange details
If an item arrives at your home broken you must let me know within 2 days in order for me to file a claim with the shipper. I ask that you send me a photograph of the item and its box. I will refund your full purchase price and shipping if an item is broken in transit.

EU buyers have the right to return products (not food or custom made products) by contacting the seller within 14 days. This 14-day period will start the moment a customer receives a product, rather than at the time he or she purchases it. I am required to issue a refund within 14 days of receiving the returned item or evidence that the item has been shipped back. So if you must return an item please contact me immediately.

USPS ISSUES

When I have shipped an item on time but there is a delay in USPS delivery I can neither foresee nor be responsible for their problems, consequently I can't issue a refund while the package is in the USPS system. When the USPS tells me that they will not deliver your package through some fault of theirs I will issue a refund.

If the USPS indicates that a package has been delivered to the address you provided at the time of your order, I can not issue a refund.

VINTAGE / CUSTOM ITEMS:

All sales on vintage and custom items must be final, I can not offer refunds, credits or exchanges on these items. All item listings include very detailed information about the item, what it is, it's condition and it's dimensions - to help you make an informed decision before purchasing. Clear concise photos are also included as part of the description. If you are unsure about an item, or unsure if it will work for your application, please ask questions BEFORE purchasing - we are happy to supply you with more information, if needed

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION:

Of course we want you to be happy with your purchase! If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us to determine what we can do to make you happy. We will do our best to make sure you are satisfied - customer service is our top priority!

Shipping policies

I try to ship the next day after you order. US Shipping will generally be by USPS Media Mail.

Note that magazines or any items containing any form of advertising, while meeting the definition of Media Mail as most of us would define it, do not meet the definition of the Post Office. Therefore they can not be sent media mail, so an item weighing less than 16 ounces will be mailed first class, over 16 ounces will either be mailed Priority or Parcel.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:

I will ship worldwide - please see the shipping quotes in our listings, or contact me if your location is not listed.

International orders that weigh 4 pounds or less (when packaged) are shipped via USPS International First Class Mail (typically 6-21 days in transit).

Items that weigh more than 4 pounds will be packaged and shipped as economically as possible. If you would like Priority Shipping (almost certainly more expensive unless the item is very heavy, but with 6-10 day delivery) please contact me and let me know.

PLEASE NOTE that any custom fees, duties (tariffs), or taxes are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Because every country has different fees, these charges are NOT included in the shipping charges in our listings. Please contact your local customs office to determine what these fees will be before making your purchase. You may also check http://www.dutycalculator.com/ to determine any additional fees.
There is no similar reasonably priced international shipping rate, but I will happily ship internationally and will provide international customers with a shipping cost to your location upon request.
