Description

This white metal devotional medal shows on one side Pope Paul VI with the legend "Pacis Nuntius Paulus Sextus Pontiff Maximus" and the other side Saint Peter holding the keys to Heaven and Saint Paul holding a sword.

The medal is in very good condition. See photos for more details.

Diameter: 34mm (1 3/8").
Weight: 23g.

*IMPORTANT* All our medals are original vintage French devotional medals, they are not reproductions. They do show signs of wear and tear, some more than others. These objects have a history; they were carried and handled every day by the faithful. Please look carefully at the photographs; I have made every effort to produce high quality reproductions so you can see the flaws and the beauty in these items.

Obverse: Paul VI, 1963 - 1978 An Italian (born in Concesio, near Brescia) named Giovanni BattistaMontini.
The son of a prominent newspaper editor, he was elected pope in June, 1963. Paul immediately demonstrated his intention of continuing the reforms of his predecessor, John XXIII. He reconvened the Second Vatican Council and supervised the carrying out of many of its reforms
In 1964, Paul VI made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land; he was the first pope in over 150 years to leave Italy. That historic journey was followed by trips to India (1964), the United States (1965), where he addressed the United Nations, and other parts of the world, including Africa (1969) and Southeast Asia (1970).
