DETAILS:
We do not stain. Your box will be the natural color of the solid hardwood. This box is made with a solid walnut surround, cherry insert on the top lid and corner splines.

We love the look of consistent grain for the walnut surround, so we use a single piece of walnut as wide as the box is tall.

Our exacting standards mean you will receive a meticulously handcrafted premium quality keepsake box that is perfectly proportioned. The solid hardwoods we select for each box we make are exquisite.

The walls of our boxes are 5/8″ thick.

We do not like the look of end grain showing therefore you will not find this on any of our boxes. The way a given piece of wood has been sawn affects both its appearance and physical properties. End grain is the grain of wood seen when it is cut across the growth rings. We use miter joinery with corner splines which is not only very strong and stable; you will not see any end grain.

We use 3 coats of Arm-R-Seal Oil-Based Urethane Based Topcoat to finish our boxes, it is extremely durable and long-lasting. It penetrates the wood to provide deep-down protection and we love the natural appearance, going on clear and showing off the grain of the wood.

I can't speak highly enough of Christy and Tyler and their beautiful work. I had a last minute idea for my best friends wedding. A "letter to my best friend on her wedding day" engraved on the box. Christy jumped all over it to make sure it got done in time. Sent me pics throughout the process and even the receipt from the post office. I searched high and low for the perfect handmade, engraveable box and was so excited when I found MadTreeWoodcrafts. I ordered this as a VERY special gift with an intimate engraving on the inside of the lid. It will be a lasting and meaningful gift and Christy understood how important it was to me. She was so communicative throughout the entire process. I also needed this to arrive by a certain date and she not only ensured it would arrive on time, but early! I knew that this box would be pretty, but let me tell you...it completely exceeded my expectations; it's exceptional! The craftsmanship is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and the engraving is perfect. I purchased this keepsake box for my Yorkie that recently went to Heaven. The craftsmanship is absolutely incredible, I cannot begin to explain how beautiful this box is. The quality is phenomenal, from the way the hinges and lock are set in the wood, to the mitered corners, the detail is awesome. Christy and Tyler engraved a poem I wrote to her on the lid. They communicate so well with you to make sure that everything is the way you want it. On top of all that, they truly care for their customers and want nothing more than to make you happy. I will most definitely be shopping with them again. This box means so much to me and I will treasure it for the rest of my life. You will not be disappointed when you choose Christy and Tyler.
