Description

I had picked this up at an estate sale, thinking it was an ordinary cigarette lighter. I'm guessing everyone else did, as well. I got it home and started looking more closely at it and it didn't look quite right. When I depressed the thumb button, it shot up to over 1" and the cap where the flame would be, popped open. Now it really looked different. When you push the button down, it pumps atomized perfume into the air! There is still the slight scent residue from what was previously used. Cosmetically this look just about new. Much of what you see in the polished surface is actually reflected off of other things.

Going into a bit more detail, the filler screw at the bottom has two patent numbers, the top one is for the atomizer that dates to 1928. The second patent number was a bit of a surprise! It was a patent number for a design of this specific "lighter" atomizer, making it safe and convenient to be carried in a pocket or purse without worry of being spilled. The person applying for the patent was Louis V. Aronson, the inventor of the Ronson Lighter! Makes sense! Anyway, that is my fun fact for the day.
