This original water color painting is a beautiful depiction of downtown Chicago circa the 1970's. Painting features the view from the South side of the Chicago River looking out across the Michigan Avenue bridge at the Wrigley Building, Tribune Tower, the old Sun Times building, and John Hancock building.

Aside from being a nice original piece of art, however, this watercolor painting has bit of an interesting story:

It was found in my grandparents' attic and the backing was almost completely removed. Noticing there were what looked like two pieces of art underneath, we decided to completely remove the backing... and found the bizarre message seen in image #3.

We ended up removing the painting completely to see *what* this eerie message could be referring to... and discovered that this watercolor was actually painted on a calendar from the 1970's (can't recall exact year).

Best guess? This was some type of sentimental painting done by Peggy Harmon... whomever she is/was. I tried to look her up and didn't have much luck. Either way, it's a cool piece of art with an interesting story - and a lovely painting for anyone who loves Chicago.

Painting measures 10" x 8".

Condition:
The painting itself is in fairly decent condition considering that it was painted on a calendar page. Obviously, you may wish to re-frame this piece since the backing of this frame is missing and overall, the frame isn't in perfect condition. The bottom/middle nail is pushed so far forward on the frame that it has to now be positioned in front of the art.

All small/medium sized pieces of art will be shipped in a USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Box, Size Medium.
