Description

After an owl eats a meal, all the undigestible bits are compacted together in the owl's stomach, then vomited back up! This ball of fur, bones, and feathers are called an owl pellet. Dissect this pellet and you'll find skulls, vertebrae, legs, jaws, and more!

I collect my owl pellets in a rural farming area near Portland, OR. They primarily come from barn owls. The creatures I've uncovered inside these pellets include: voles, moles, red-toothed shrew, pocket gophers, birds, mice, and rats.

This listing is for a pack of large owl pellets. Please choose the size of the pack you need from 2 pellets to 100. For additional pack sizes, please email me for a custom order. There's a built-in discount for larger orders and shipping remains the same cost no matter how many pellets you order.

You never quite know what you're going to get with owl pellets- some are full of a bunch of really cool skulls from many types of animals, and some may only have bones from one or two critters inside. I do my best to pick out pellets that are extra large and full of bones.

All owl pellets have been heat-sanitized and will come wrapped in foil. While they are safe to handle with your bare hands, please remember to wash your hands and all dissection tools/surfaces with soap and water when you're finished.

Please note that processing time may vary depending on the size of the order. For smaller orders (20 pellets or less), I expect to ship within 1-3 days. For larger orders, I may need more time to find, sanitize, and package the pellets. If you need an order within a certain time frame, please message me and I'll let you know if I can get it to you in time.

FAQs

No! Owl pellets are regurgitated, so they're more like owl vommit.
Each owl pellet is heat-sanitized before dissection. The bones are then thoroughly cleaned with hydrogen peroxide before being transformed into wearable works of art.
Tiny bones like the ones used in my jewelry are naturally quite fragile. However, I coat each bone with a hardener to protect it from breaking. Of course, you should be gentle with your bone jewelry, but if it does break, I will happily repair it free of charge. Please keep in mind that every bone is unique so a replacement bone may not be identical.
The types of bones found vary from seasons to season and from pellet to pellet. The most common bones are from vole (a small rodent), but there are also many shrew, moles, mice, and sometimes even birds. My favorite bones to find are from the red-toothed shrew- the tips of this critter's teeth are bright red from iron deposits!
I collect my pellets in the wild on Sauvie Island. Owls can be very sensitive to intruders so i don't visit the site often and I am very quiet when i am there. I can't share my specific spot for owl pellets, but next time you take a walk through the woods, keep your eyes open and you may find a pellet or two!
All jewelry items ship in a ready-to-gift cute box. If you would like me to send your order as a gift (without mentioning the cost, or with a short note from you) just me know!
