Description

St Bernadette was only 14 when she received a vision of the Virgin Mary near Lourdes, France. Although she was an uneducated peasant girl, she spoke about seeing a
"beautiful lady" who told her she was the "immaculate conception" (This was a recent church doctrine referring to Mary about which Bernadette could have had no idea!) Many people have been miraculously healed after bathing in the spring dug by Bernadette at Lourdes, and the grotto of her visions is still visited by thousands of people seeking healing today.

This medal features St Bernadette in the grotto of Massabielle where her visions took place. She is portrayed in her traditional regional dress, looking up in prayer with a rosary over her arm. The reverse shows the Blessed Virgin Mary standing guard over the pilgrimage sites of Lourdes with the inscription in French "Centennial of our Lady of Lourdes" and the dates 1858-1958. This medal is a reproduction of an antique medal in my personal collection. It shows all the wear of the original piece.

Size: Approximately 1 inch
Material: Sterling silver. Chains are also sterling silver.

UK buyers should be aware that orders totaling £15 or more may be subject to an additional 20% VAT and a £8 postal handling fee charged by the Royal Mail. I cannot legally undervalue your purchase to circumvent these charges.
