Description

Designer fur coat from the late 1960s/early 70s in a rich brown

Norman Norell designed upscale boutique clothing worn by huge stars such as Marylin Monroe and Lucille Ball. Michelle Obama has been photographed wearing vintage Norell a few times.

Swing silhouette flares outward toward the hem

Satin lined

Clasps up the front

Very unique looking fur. Very soft!

Has some pretty heavy weight to it, makes it great for winter if you live in a cold place!

NORELL
Thorpe furs
'BRONZE RIBBED BEAVER'

I'm not too familiar with the timeline of his work, so I'm unsure if the coat is from his norman norell or traina norell lines. I'm happy to send a pic of the tags if it would help.

44'' bust
33'' long
25'' sleeve

Modern size estimate: Large. Fits oversized on a small or medium

Fabric Type: Very unusual fur. Incredibly soft and cozy.

Condition: Good, only visible wear is at the wrists where some of the fur has worn down

*Typically a NORELL fur coat would sell for thousands of dollars, but this coat is too beautiful to sit in someones attic collecting dust. It should be worn every single day!

<←-------------------------------------------------------------------→>

Model is 5'8'' and weighs 123 lbs, typically wears a size small
36'' bust
26/27'' waist
36'' hips

Keep in mind that numeric sizes vary across brands and decades, and may not be the same as modern sizing. So PLEASE take them lightly and use the measurements for reference instead. We do not give refunds for things that don’t fit.

Please see our policies section for more information on how we measure or size our garments and how to best measure yourself for accurate results.

PLEASE NOTE: We try to show the exact color and describe it in our listings, but colors may differ slightly, depending on your computer & monitor settings. We will NOT give refunds for this!

FAQs

ALL MEASUREMENTS TAKEN WHILE LYING FLAT, DOUBLED WHERE NECESSARY:

BUST: from pit to pit

WAIST: smallest part of the waist, in the middle. Usually the top of the
waistband on a skirt or pants

HIPS: widest part, just below the fly but above the crotch

RISE: from the crotch seam to the top of the waist band, in front

INSEAM: from the crotch seam to the bottom hem

SLEEVE: from shoulder to wrist

SHOULDERS: from seam to seam across the shoulders
All items include measurements in their descriptions.

Please note that we take care in measuring items so that they are as accurate as possible and helpful in determining size and fit. Please measure and re-measure yourself and compare to the measurements given. We also recommend measuring a similar item in your closet that fits you well.

Keep in mind that numeric sizes vary across brands and decades, and may not be the same as modern sizing. So PLEASE take them lightly and use the measurements for reference instead.

LARGE

As previously noted, we like to stay away from numeric sizing.
Use the measurements above to see what size you are and compare them to both the garments and the models.

The first step to finding your size is measuring yourself. You'll need a measuring tape for this.

BUST: Around the fullest part of your chest

WAIST: Around the smallest part of your waist, where you bend. Usually just above the belly button.

LOW WAIST: Around your hip bones, or where your pants would sit if you were wearing some sweet low-riders.

HIPS: Around the fullest part of your hips, including the widest part of your butt.

INSEAM: from the crotch to the ankle

After all this, if you're still unsure if something will fit, ask us!
The short answer is no.

The long answer is that we spend a lot of time researching items and determining a fair price for things before we list them. Then we have to launder, mend, and iron an item before it can be styled, modeled, and photographed. Then we list it to Etsy.

This our full time job, so please don't ask if you can have something for less. We would never ask that of you.

Our prices are reasonable. We have a huge sale section. We frequently have storewide sales. So if you send us a message asking for a discount, we are not likely to respond.
