Talking Sticks are used by many Native American Tribes to maintain order and respect during tribal council meetings. The council members value every other council members Sacred Point of View. The Talking Stick is passed from member to member, and only the person holding the stick is allowed to speak and the others bow their heads in full attention. Every member listens intently so that information does not need to be repeated and to prevent unnecessary questions from being asked. This does not mean that each member must agree, but ensures that all have time to speak their Sacred Words.

In today’s society, Talking Sticks are being used more and more in the corporate world to maintain order during meetings, and honor the person speaking. Boy Scout troops, schools, day care and kindergarten teachers now use them to teach children respect and listening skills. Spiritual leaders also use them during meetings and rituals to provide a safe environment for others to speak.

I named this Talking Stick "Gentle Persuasion". This Talking Stick is made using sturdy wood. It measures 11 in length and 3/4 in diameter. It is beautifully adorned with metal and plastic beads. Also, the decoration includes blue colored suede cording.
