  • Digital file type(s): 2 ZIP, 2 other files

Paper shark models are pretty rare, especially those you can hang on the wall.

Are you a Shark Lover? Have you ever imagined how cool it would be to have a Shark Sculpture for your home or office? It's even cooler if part of it is still immersed in the wall like this one!

The good news is you can make it yourself!

This pdf template turns into a lively 1-meter long Shark.

The process of assembly is easy to understand, but for this model, it is better if you have already made a paper sculpture before (because the 3D teeth are tricky).

In any case, I will take you through the entire process with step by step instructions. Soon you will be proudly displaying your very own Shark!

A zip file containing:

** or go to your local printing place, they are likely to have a wide range of paper colours in various weights. They will print it out for you for next to nothing.

Use A3 sheets print it 141% (not 200%!).
Printing at 141% gives a 1.41-metre long shark. But careful, you willl need bigger hands!

Just print at 100% and you are good to go

You can also print on A3 and scale it up to 141%, but this will be more difficult to make!

A4 / Letter size in 160-210 gsm / 65 lbs cover

You can use either white cardstock and spray paint it, or coloured/patterned cardstock. I recommend against metallic paper, which takes longer to dry.

For all my prototypes, I personally use Iris Vivaldi® by Canson® in 185 gsm, which comes in 50-sheet reams. They have 30 colours to choose from.
Brands like Recollections®, Astrobrights®, Clairefontaine®, to name a few, are also good options.

You can also go creative with patterned paper provided that it is thick enough.

For a cheaper alternative, go for Bristol paper, but it usually comes in white. You may then need to use spray paint it (in bronze, gold, silver, etc.), which is good for concealing potential glue smears.

Any wood glue or any craft glue will do.
Fast drying one is a plus, but it is optional.

I personally pour some wood glue into a metallic lid. Then I apply a few drops onto the tabs with a toothpick before I spread them out in a thin layer. You need very few glue!

My name is Stephane and I am a night owl who crafts paper to fight insomnia and reduce internal noise. I am based in Paris, France, but my sleep is so erratic that I am actually living in different time zones (which comes in handy to answer customers' questions from all over the world). I am both ENFP and INFP personality types, depending on the moon. I also don't eat meat nor fish by choice and I am an intermittent faster. But other than that, I feel normal.

OXYGAMI is my full-time job. I chose this name because OXYGAMI = Oxygene + Origami.

I design DIY paper sculptures for creative people who need a way to stop internal noise, at least temporarily. Building a paper sculpture switches off our brains as it requires focus. It also brings fun during the assembly and pride when the sculpture is finished. In a word: oxygene!

I try hard to design gorgeous, refined models to decorate your walls. And I try as hard to make the assembly as intuitive as possible, so that you can successfully make your own even if you never did anything with your hands.

These sculptures require time but they are so rewarding in the end! They attract compliments like magnets.

I have built a few papercraft sculptures before and was looking for something cool to hang in my classroom. I happened to come upon the shark and was very interested in it due to the looks and size. I hunted around a bit looking for something like it but there isn't. So I bit the bullet and ordered it - and the dragon, and the love hands. Took me about a week but the pieces and instructions were intuitive. When I finally got it done, I was pretty impressed! The teeth are not exactly for the faint of heart or impatient. I originally did this in a light gray upper and white lower. I decided it wasn't enough contrast so I masked the lower with blue masking tape and spray painted the upper a primer gray - TOTALLY AWESOME now! Just make sure you do it in light coats. It's going up in the classroom tomorrow! Awesome project!!

This is going to be my first origami and I am so excited. Stephane is amazing. He has been very helpful. Not only with paper recommendations, but also how to do it with the Cricut Maker. This is going to be my ticket to become the BEST AUNT EVER!

Completely recommend! The instructions are very clear and the support from Stephane is awesome (if you even need it). I estimate it took me around 20 hours to complete the shark, it was my first project of this kind. You will need some patience but totally worth it. Buy it now!

This was my first papercraft. It was a little frightening, but I followed the clear and well-written instructions, and it turned out great!
