Description

CUSTOM Healers Hand Medicine Bag... Mark of the healer in cultures around the world but the one I am most familiar with is our indigenous tribes in New Mexico... But, their interpretation is not the only one...
Man alone has a hand. He uses it as a tool, as a symbol, and as a weapon. A whole literature of legend, folklore, superstition, and myth has been built up around the human hand. As an organ of performance it serves as eyes for the blind, the mute talk with it, and it has become a symbol of salutation, supplication, and condemnation. The right hand is the symbol and model of all aristocracy, the left hand of all common people.
The hand and usually represents the presence of man. From the earliest hand imprints on cave walls, the hand depicts a man’s work, achievements and his personal history. Symbol of a human's life, achievements and legacy, the creative spirit...
When a hand had a swirl in the middle of it, that is said to be the “eye in hand” and represents a mystic, or all-seeing, hand, the presence of the Great Spirit in man. The black color struck here is a representation of life.
The hand symbol meant that the warrior was successful in a hand-to-hand battle. It was painted on the faces or on the horses. The handprint symbolized human life and this sign was believed to channel energy to the wearer. The figure of the red hand, whether sculptured on Irish crosses, displayed in Indian temples, or on Mexican buildings, is always an example of the same original idea,--that of a protective symbol.

Any healer, no matter what the discipline, could feel well represented by the mark of the healer by wearing the Healers Hand Medicine Bag...

This bag is dove grey leather, 3 1/2 by 5 inches embellished with picasso speckled and black glass beads with a 30 inch braided leather lanyard...

FAQs

The section called Gallery CUSTOM from Sold is to help customers wanting a custom-made bag to find similar bag ideas. Select one of these and I will make a CUSTOM bag for you similar to it or of the same subject matter. The bag color is of my choice but I will try to accommodate a special request. These bags cannot be duplicated, obviously, being one-of-a-kind creations. Once a custom-made order is placed there are no exchanges, new selection or return.
Earthwayspirits medicine bags are hand crafted and hand painted, one of a kind. The craftmeanship of the leather pouch is substantial. The beading is secured with polyester threat to prevent breaking. The painting, however, will not withstand misuse of any kind; stretching, scraping or exposing it to any liquids. I use a fabric paint sealant to make the paint and ink more adherant. Under normal wear and tear, earthwayspirits medicine bags should last years. Store in a dry, dark and cool place...
Allow me 8 days to create your medicine bag and then add shipping time. Please inquire through Etsy messaging if you would like to request a specific color leather or beading be used, only if available.
