This original watercolour by Lynicus is one of a series of amusing subjects painted by Lynicus in the 1920s. They rarely come up for sale in antique dealers shops or websites and are snapped up when they do. The painting has been in my family for three generations and was re-framed in the 1970s using anti-reflection glass and an oak frame. The original mount has been retained which reveals the age of the painting. The actual painting inside the mount measures 20cm (8") by 17 (6 3/4") and the whole thing, including frame measures 38cm (15") by 32cm (12 1/2").
