Description

This listing is for a PRINT ON PAPER of my painting "The Enchanted Puffin' Flame Høle".

Dimensions: 8 1/2" x 11"

The original painting was done in acrylics, by me, the artist RARABIRD.

My signature is found at the bottom right corner. This is one of my earlier pieces, when I used to sign my real name to paintings (Laura Harper), instead of using my artist name: RARABIRD. RARE! The print is hand-signed by me as RARABIRD as well.

The theme of this painting is about good friends enjoying each other's company around a shared a delicious Tiki cocktail concoction.

This painting was inspired by the poster of a group of parrots enjoying Dole Pineapple Juice that hangs at the exit of Walt Disney's Enchanted Tikiroom (where the birds sing words and the flowers croon), at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. There must be something magical in that Scorpion Bowl (a traditional shared drink found commonly at Tiki Bars where a group of people drink simultaneously from it with long straws), because it has brought to life enchanted talking macaws and a rather inebriated, mysterious lady cockatoo.

The familiar lead characters from the Enchanted Tikiroom have gathered around their charming leader, José (that lazy bird) who has just woken up from his siesta to gather his friends around for a drink and some storytelling. José is multicolored, Michael is green, Fritz is red, Pierre is blue. The one and only girl bird who was missing from the attraction show, Rosita, is well on her way to calling in sick. I had always wondered what the story was behind the memorable show quote "What ever happened to Rosita?" And so I fantasized the reason into my painting.

And why is it a "puffin" flame hole? Usually a Scorpion Bowl has a Sterno fire burning in the middle of it like a volcano....and the puffiness comes from people giggling and blowing bubbles into the drink with their incredibly long straws!

Custom paintings can also be requested. Please contact me, RARABIRD, the artist and Esty seller, with your ideas for a commissioned piece. I mainly work in Tiki, Fantasy, Mermaid, Nautical, Exotic and Tropical themes.

International shipping can be calculated per destination.

All prints are printed ON DEMAND. It takes one week to process: place the order at the printer, and packaging the print for shipping. Shipping and handling may take up to one week. Expect AT LEAST A WEEK from the date of placing your order to receiving your print.

Please see my other pages for other pieces painted by me.
