SALE! 1/3 off.

Beautiful.
Scarcely found.
Quite imperfect.

Aesthetic Movement, c1870s-1880s, three piece canister set in brown transferware banner & floral pattern. One jar each w/ German lables: Grutze (grits), Nudeln (noodles), Reis (rice).

NO LIDS.

~6"h. x 5" diameter at shoulder;
~3 3/4" diameter neck; inner diameter approx. 3 1/8"
4" diameter base

Underglaze backstamp on Grutze bottom : Eagle mark holding orb & scepter, AH Annenburg, which indicates eastern German, Prussian or Silesia manufacture.

The good: Fronts of jars are very clean and display well at slightly above eye level. We have had them on a high open cupboard shelf in kitchen for many, many years & enjoyed their beauty immensely.

Not so good: AS-FOUND, each jar has heavy interior crazing to glaze and two are heavily stained w/ Grutze being the worst.

More on each jar:
GRUTZE has one long, tight noticeable crack on left side + shorter hairlines in back neck. No chips, flakes, other damage seen.

REIS has a very stained, long & curved tight crack at back + a ding & one shallow chip at front & front side neck. Tiny flake under foot/base.

NUDELN is best of bunch w/ a 3/4" x 1/4" moderate depth chip under foot at right side, towards back. One light, short hairline in neck at back. Neither detract much from use or display.

Fine repurpose candidates for lamp base, drill hole in bottom for flower pot, planters or hanging lighting fixtures. Or simply display & enjoy!

Great addition to any 19th century transferware collection or to restore if antique pottery restoration is your forte.
