Description

~~~
Here we have a lovely 1930s-40s ceramic sugar bowl and lid in the "Cherokee" pattern from the W.S. George Pottery Co. This sugar bowl has an off-white or cream-colored background with a beautiful turquoise/aqua colored "Indian Bead and Diamond" pattern around the top edge and lid. The decorations also include accents in black, red and green. The rim, handles and lid are also accented with a gold band. It comfortably holds 2 cups of sugar. Dimensions of this piece are as follows:
- 7" from outermost edge of one handle to outermost edge of opposite handle
- 2-3/4" tall
- 3-1/2" tall (with lid in place)
- 5-1/2" at widest point from side to side
- 3-1/2" diameter at the base
William Shaw George bought the East Palestine Pottery Co. in East Palestine, Ohio, in 1904 and renamed it The W.S. George Pottery Co. Cavitt-Shaw was a division of W.S. George. Cavitt and Shaw were family names. George's mother's maiden name was Cavitt. The W. S. George Pottery Company produced semi-porcelain dinnerware, hotel ware, and toilet wares. The company went bankrupt in 1955.
Condition:
Condition of this piece is excellent. I think it could easily be described as "like new". Even the unglazed bottom outer rim looks as though it hasn't left the china cabinet in the last 75 years. The gold around the upper rim and along the spine of the handle is intact and perfect. There are no chips, cracks, stains, hairlines, fading, crazing or repairs. A beautiful piece, with a wonderful "Southwestern" look that will coordinate with many styles.
We also have "for sale" in our shop the coordinating creamer, gravy boat and platter. As with this piece, they are all in excellent, like new condition.
Thank you for looking! Please contact us with any questions or if you require additional pictures.
Any over estimates on shipping greater than $1.00 will be promptly refunded. We do not add any handling, packaging or materials fees. Buyer pays actual shipping costs. We will combine shipping costs whenever possible.
We are happy to ship outside the US. Please use the "policies and shipping" tab, located beneath the item's pictures to determine shipping cost.
*** Customs duties, taxes and processing fees may be incurred, depending on the country you're shipping to. When this happens, you will be asked to pay these costs before receiving your parcel. These fees are charged by the "receiving" country. JingleBeanFarm is not responsible for these fees.
All items are Vintage or Antique and may show natural wear due to age and use. Items are described to the best of our ability and knowledge. Wear or damage is noted to the best of our ability. All measurements are approximations. Please examine the pictures carefully. Thank you very much for your interest and your business!
