Description

This bright & beautiful vase was made in France, circa 1925-1930, and is ink-stamped "PRIMAVERA LONGWY FRANCE" in grey on the bottom. The word "Millefiori" is also stamped on the bottom in black. The word millefiori is Italian in origin and translates to 'a thousand flowers.' It's an art deco design of multicolored, stylized flowers - hence the name - on a brilliant turquoise ground.

The glaze has an all-over glossy, crackled finish and stands 7.75" - 7 and 3/4" - tall and is approximately 3.375" - 3 and 3/8" - wide at the widest point. as seen in the fourth photo above, there is a hairline crack on the interior of the neck that doesn't go through to the outside of the vase. it extends about .75" - 3/4" - down from the opening. To the left of that is a small divot on the rim of the vase that is underneath the glaze, which tells me that it occurred in the manufacturing process. Opposite the hairline crack and on the outer edge of the rim is a tiny - 1/16" long - glaze flake. Beyond these few small issues, the vase is in remarkably good condition for a piece that is right around 90 years old. It displays very well and would be a good addition to a collection of Longwy pottery, deco pottery or simply as an eye-catching, stand-alone piece.
