This little piece is a tribute to the well-loved book form, one which holds so much history, magic and meaning. A reference to the text of a page is abstracted in layers of acrylic paint and graphite that represent words. Silver paint creates an iridescence, which is accentuated by the tiny, clear beads that catch the light and radiate the magic of the written word, handed down through the ages...all safely captured in the page of a book. This book page is embroidered with rows of stitching down the middle...a reference to the gutter of the book. Having worked in libraries as a cataloger fo most of my life, can you tell that I adore the book and all that it represents?!!!
This work is made on handmade/homemade paper, which is very evident by the deckled edges! Artwork measures 7 1/2"h x 11 1/2"w and is unframed. The piece will be carefully packaged and arrive to safely to you, ready to frame as desired!
Thanks for looking...enjoy!
