Engraved from the detail on the memorial statue in Canterbury Cathedral, this modern brass shows the family heraldic emblems clearly. This Prince was the eldest son of King Edward III but died before his father and was never crowned. He is famous for his chivalry and prowess in battle and was given the name of Edward the Black Prince because he wore a distiunctive armour. His son was King Richard II and who was the last of the Plantagenet monarchs.

This original and hand crafted Brass Rubbing is created from a facsimilie plate, exhibited by the London Brass Rubbing Centre, during their workshop held at The Washington National Cathedral in Washington DC.

Using a black healball and a red wax compound this lovely engraving has been rubbed under a strong and special rag paper. The wax is set and the rubbing is ready to frame under glass. You could also hang the piece from wooden dowels or a brass rod. The rubbing measures 28" X 15".

I will send it to you rolled in a strong postal tube, fully insured during transit. I will also include a copy of the Historical Notes, published by The London Brass Rubbing Centre, which not only describes the historical details behind this figure but also lists the plates in the wonderful and unique collection of these historical and much prized memorial engravings that the Centre exhibits around the country.
