This pendant is 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall and has a large loop on the back for your chain or rope to go through. It is rustic looking and imperfect, as if it were hand-forged. It is marked "Sterling" and the Roman numeral "VIIII" on the back. It comes with a slip of paper that reads:

APES HOLDING A PAPYRUS COLUMN
Egyptian, Middle Kingdom (2160-1567 B.C.)
Said to be from Thebes
Two cynocephalic apes grasping papyrus column, as an openwork design on an axe head. An inscription on the object reads "The Overseer of Priests and Guardian of Cattle, Khamen."

The pendant seems to be a reproduction of some ancient Egyptian work of art. I believe, but am not sure, that it came from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Wherever it came from, it is a very interesting and beautiful piece. I did not polish it, as you may prefer its vintage patina.

This is a sale item! Original price was $49.95.
