This gown is based on my own careful research into the clothing fashionable in 1560's Venice. Utmost care will be taken to create a dress that looks historically correct, is durable, and quite comfortable for a Renaissance gown. This is the perfect gown for an SCA event, a Renaissance Faire, Halloween, Carnivale, LARP, etc.

Often called a "Venetian gown," this style features a deep, v-shaped front opening bodice, which laces in a historically-accurate "ladder" lacing style, instead of X's. The bodice will be constructed from a double layer of cotton canvas and will be heavily boned, allowing it to be worn without a corset, while creating that rigid, conical look of the time period. The sleeves attach to the shoulder straps with buttons and elastic loops, so the look is historical, but this allows for more movement and comfort for the wearer. The wide neckline falls off the shoulders somewhat, highlighting the decolletage. Fabric for the gown can be silk, brocade, velvet, etc, depending on your wishes.

Trimmed sleeves add additional $70.

The skirt is "cartridge pleated" to the bodice, an historically accurate technique. I include deep pockets in the side seams, so that you can easily hide your wallet/camera/other 21st century items at Faire.

The sleeves are based on historical portraits. They are straight, but roomy, and taper to a tight wrist. The slits in the top allow the chemise to poof through, and they can be trimmed with lace, buttons, etc at the cuff. If you would like a different sleeve style, I am flexible on this.

A linen chemise, also included with this dress, is full and gathered to a band at the neck. It has extra long sleeves for pulling through the oversleeves, and is calf-length.
