My Ice Cream Social Girl in summer -- she's hanging around for a dish of ice cream; oh dear, just make that a pint. She's original, all recycled parts and fabric except for the filling and the cotton muslin base, which has been hand dyed with walnut bark. Her face comes from my photo of a dear old doll, converted to a transfer and retouched with color pencils. All the drawing has been sealed in with Createx, a product that adapts drawing to fabric. Her tuft of hair is cobbler's linen; her arms are desert driftwood, and on one, a page from an 1800s schoolbook and held by the other, a vintage celluloid daisy button. Her feet are recycled baby socks, hand dyed and stained with marigold petals and walnut bark. Her sun suit is made of antique feedsack fabric quilting scraps, softened with a veil of cheesecloth. She's 16 inches high, and she's a wall doll, ready to hang out in your kitchen, right next to the place where you keep ice cream.
