This is a size 8 incredibly shiny gold stiletto heel, upcycled of course into a new life. I removed the top of the shoe, sanded it, drilled holes for drainage, and then planted it with a blue-green succulent (senecio serpens) known as "blue chalksticks"

The shoe's gold glamour, originally intended to shine at night on a dance-floor now gives off a warm gold glow in the sunshine.

The succulent plant will need very bright light and just a little water from time to time. In return, it'll repay you with a stark reminder of how hard it is to...well, to be a woman.

sustainability: I use only natural and organic fertilizers and soil. most of my plants are from a local Berkeley grower who is 100% certified organic

Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels. ~Faith Whittlesey
