Description

Vintage, probably mid century, wool handwoven cobalt blue with white overshot weave table linen. The base weave is a beautiful cobalt blue and the overshot yarns are ice white. Such a beautiful piece. The design is intricate and lovely, very nicely done.

This is a fine piece of woven fabric and should be revered.

One of my photos shows the piece across the top of a queen sized bed. Use it as a table cloth or an accent to a bedroom. I tried it as a shawl, but there is just too much fabric to make that work for me. It needs to be displayed!

The cobalt blue is rich and deep and the detailed white overshot weave accents make this a unique one-of-a-kind piece.

I pulled a weft fiber and did a burn test and it is wool. The warp feels like linen, but I couldn't confirm that since the fringe is so short.

This piece has a void in the weave at one end where the fringe cut is indicated; beyond that there is an additional strip of weave similar but different from the main overshot weave.

The fringe is a work in progress. It has been hastily cut from the loom, so I'm assuming you could even up the cup and make the fringe longer by pulling the weft threads to make the warp fringe as long as you want. Whatever you do with it, it is worth doing.

It measures 44" across and is 70" long including the tiny uneven fringe.

This piece is worth more in my opinion, but I want it to go to someone that will love, enjoy, use and display this piece fully!

Please don't lock it into a cedar chest or put it in a drawer to languish. How will our kids ever love it if they never see us using it?

Please let me know if you have any questions.
