Description

Hibiscus is the closest shade of red I can think of to the color of the bamboo cord that wraps this pendant. Inside is the top of a tiger lily petal which I picked and pressed from my own garden. As the petal dried it's beautiful orange color separated into yellows, oranges and even purples. This pendant would look great on a hemp/ suede/ leather cord like those in my shop and is 100% metal-free! 20% from this sale will go towards brain cancer research!

Item Details:
- ~25mm diameter pendant
- Real tiger lily petal inside
- Air bubbles are a natural part of the resin curing process
- Wood backing
- Eco-friendly bamboo fiber cord
- Cord not included

The idea behind metal-less pieces is that many patients with brain cancer wear an electrode cap to slow the growth of tumors. Metal jewelry can inhibit the effectiveness of the device and so I hope to provide jewelry that these patients can wear. 20% of what this piece sells for will be donated towards brain cancer research.

FAQs

Snakes naturally shed their skin 2-4 times a year. I use that shed to create my jewelry. So, yes it's real, but the animal wasn't using it any more. I use the shed from corn snakes, kingsnakes and ball pythons which are both sold as pets in the U.S. and not endangered.
I make my pieces in batches of around 10. Normally, it takes me about 2 1/2 hours to cut and place the materials into the bezels, mix the resin and pour the resin into the bezels with minimal bubbles. Then it takes 3 days for each piece to fully cure and I always wear one piece from the batch to work on the 4th day to test its durability. So... From creation to listing, normally about 4 1/2 days.
Just shoot me an email! I'm always interested in new ideas and would love to make you something beautiful!
I recommend storing items in a cool dry place when not in use. I do not advise storing resin pieces in direct sunlight as prolonged exposure to UV light can affect the coloration.

If you have a metal-free piece I do not recommend wearing it in water because the fibers can blend together and the pattern of the macrame can be lost.
the 20% from most of my pieces goes towards reptile and amphibian research and conservation. I have chosen to donate to Herpetological Conservation International this year.

If the piece is a metal-free piece the 20% will go towards brain cancer research. Specifically, I have chosen to donate to the Department of Neurology at Johns Hopkins Medicine. I grew up very close to Johns Hopkins and trust them to put every donation towards life saving brain tumor research and treatment.
Reptiles and amphibians have a long history of receiving a bad rep. But most are completely harmless to humans and even help us out by eating the rodents, insects and various other organisms we call pests. I grew up with an iguana which started my love for reptiles and still try to educate the public about them today. In addition to all of that, amphibians are an amazing indicator species and are often the first warning sign of environmental pollution. With all of the pollution spreading on our planet amphibians are disappearing at an alarming rate.
