Description

'Medusa of the Levels'
An original artwork by Nancy Farmer (me) in watercolour. The delicate detail in this painting is created by layer upon layer of thin washes in Prussian blue watercolour paint.

Size & Media:
Approximately 14.4 x 19 inches / 36 x 48 cm. Watercolour.

The Story:
Medusa has been one of my favourite subjects for many years. The combination of female curves and sinuous snakes make a beautiful and mysterious subject in themselves. This painting was painted for a fairly recent exhibition in which I set a lot of magical creatures in my local Somerset landscape, and of course one of the most striking features of this landscape is Glastonbury Tor, which you can see to the left of Medusa's head. But I have given this rendering of Medusa an earthy twist: she has worms for hair instead of snakes. Because worms are more important than snakes, except to other snakes.

Offered for sale unframed:
This original piece is offered for sale unframed because of the costs involved in shipping a painting in a glazed frame. However, if you are interested in buying this painting framed please send me a message before purchase as there may be some options, especially if you live fairly near to me (I live in Somerset, UK). Some of the pieces I am listing are still in frames at the moment.

Prints of my artwork:
Prints and cards of my artwork may be found in my other Etsy shop: http://www.nancyfarmer.etsy.com - this shop - NancyFarmerTwo - is a second shop I have set up in order to list original work which I have for sale.

About me:
I am a self-employed artist living in Somerset, UK. If you would like to see more of my work take a look at www.nancyfarmer.gallery and www.nancyfarmer.net, and if you have any questions I can be contacted by sending a message through Etsy or at mail(at)nancyfarmer.net . I am happy to consider commissions, and would also be happy to list to order anything on Etsy which is not already in my shop, if I have it available.

The painting arrived in a protected package with no problems. Communication was excellent. I felt as if I was given the same care as was given to making the piece of art work. Attention to detail a priority. The whole experience was a pleasant part of my day. I will enjoy it immensely with cheerful memories of the experience. Absolutely charming.
