Description

These two original limited edition etchings are by artist Gene Roberds. The first print is entitled “Malabar V” and is of a boat that is sitting at a dock. It has extremely fine small details of the dock and of parts of the boat. It is numbered 39/100 and is signed “in pencil”, in the lower right corner. The second print is entitled “Sarris Boat Yard” and is of the Sarris family’s yard on the banks of the San Sebastian River in St. Augustine, Florida. The print has extremely fine details of the yard’s storage areas and of a large tree. It is numbered 19/100 and is signed “in pencil”, in the lower right corner. Both prints have very tiny birds in the sky, which is a feature that the artist is known to include in his works.

Roberds was born in 1935 and, in 1961, he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois. He is a painter and printmaker, who has won many prizes and awards. He taught art at the college level for over thirty years. In 1955, he began exhibiting throughout the United States. He is listed in Who's Who in American Art, Who's Who in Kentucky, Who's Who in American Education, Two Thousand Men of Achievement, and Encyclopedia Internazionale Degli Artisti. He is also a member of The Florida Artists Group (FLAG), which is made up of artists whose work has attained national or state-wide recognition. His work is in the collections of Barnett Banks throughout Florida, Prudential Life Insurance in Chicago, IL, Hart, Shaffner, and Marx in Chicago, IL, First Union Banks in Orlando, FL, the City of Orlando, FL, the Fifth District Court of Appeals in Daytona Beach, FL, Adams Mark Hotel in Jacksonville, FL, the George Percy Collection in Gainesville, FL, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, and many others. Books that have his work as a subject include Picturing Florida, Coast to Coast, and Liquid Muse.

Both etchings are in excellent condition, with no tears or stains to the paper. They are matted, unframed, and taped (on one edge only) to the matting.

The Malamar V image is 5 inches (wide) by 3 ¾ inches (high). The Sarris Boatyard image is 4 7/8 inches (wide) by 3 7/8 inches (high).
