Description

A super shiny vintage champagne ice bucket. Lion's heads adorn each side and a finial sits atop the lid. In an urn shape with a raised rope banding encircling the base. Simple, traditional and timeless!

This ice bucket/wine cooler was made by Reed and Barton with the maker's mark stamped into the bottom and numbered 229.

The front of the bucket is adorned with the engraved monograms "MSE & OFE" and dated February 19, 1983. Likely a gift in it's prior life.

The piece is insulated and the inside houses an attached white ceramic liner.

The first picture is a photo of the ice bucket on the original catalog advertising this piece which originally sold for $235 in 1981. The catalog proclaims "A CLASSIC IS ART YOU USE" which describes the piece as "Lion's Head Heavy Silverplate Ice Bucket". I will include a copy of this catalog cover advertisement with your purchase.

Overall in very good condition with very minor vintage wear, with no dings, dents or pitting. One shallow scratch on the front underside that is pictured in last photo but is not noticeable due to its location.

It measures 11.75" in overall height with the lid on and is 7.25" in diameter, 8.5" including the handles. It is 8" tall without the lid which is 2 7/8" tall.

This is a versatile piece because it has a lid to properly hold ice cubes for cocktails or use without the lid and its is ready to chill a bottle of your favorite wine or champagne.

Great for display on a bar cart and totally ready to be used or to be gifted to any lover of vintage.

Recommend cleaning with a damp cloth only and polish intermittently if necessary.
