Description

It all started out innocently enough with a wonderful stoneware cabochon by Etsy's very own http://lisapetersart.etsy.com I love working with this artist's creations.

I used bead embroidery and both peyote and right-angle-weave beadweaving to create a bezel and bail for this beautiful cab, resulting in a pendant that is 2.5" wide and 3.2" long. The impressive "slider bead" bail is 2.2" long. The pendant is backed with brown leather.

While the beading echoes the browns and golds in the cab's glaze, the kumihimo braided rope I created for it brings out the stoneware's aqua swirls.

For the beadweaving, I used Japanese delica and seed beads in two matte bronzes and in lined topaz (as well as some aqua seed beads for the back only). For the kumihimo braid, I used eight strands of a nylon/acrylic aqua yarn as well as eight strands different shades of brown and golden brown of DMC cotton embroidery floss.

The rope is finished off with beadwoven caps and a beadwoven loop and toggle clasp, using the same beads used in the bail of the pendant. Clasped, the rope is 17.5" long.
