Sold-Reserved For Lizbeth-Final Payment -Sandra Hendler Original Hand Painted Lover's Eye in Edwardian Pearl Encrusted Gold & Silver Locket

Description

RESERVED FOR LIZBETH-Final Payment-Please do not buy unless you are Lizbeth.

Since I've been collecting antique lockets for a while now it's very exciting to find one unlike any I've seen before !

This is a stunningly beautiful Edwardian piece -a beautifully detailed engraved gold border surrounds the beveled glass window and then there are 80 tiny luminous seed pearls in varying sizes
set into silver flowers & into the leaves of cascading vines which surround the sides of the locket.
The bottom of the piece has a beautiful pearl encrusted bow design & finally
a larger pearl dangles from that.
This is just a gorgeous piece !

Pearls symbolize the moon & stand for innocence, purity, beauty & new beginnings.
Inside the glass window of the locket is a miniature oil painting of a lover's eye which I created for this piece (my miniatures are original oils on canvas, not paper reproductions).

It measures 2 & 1/8ths inches long from the top to the bottom of the larger pearl , and 1 & 1/8th inches wide at the widest point on top & is 7/32nds of an inch deep.
This piece is in very good condition, though when I'd photographed it & saw it enlarged 5 times it's actual size I realized one of the tiniest seed pearls is missing from the second to last leaf on the right side. I have pretty sharp vision as I paint very tiny miniatures & the tiny missing pearl isn't noticeable without magnification.
The beveled glass door on the reverse opens & the locket is deep enough to add either a thin photo or lock of hair in addition to the painting which is in it.
I don't know (nor did the dealer) the content of the gold surround or silver -there are some marks on the reverse of the silver but even with magnification I can't tell if they are hallmarks.
It's a beautifully made piece.

This sale is for the pearl locket with the miniature eye painting only, no chain is included.

I've collected antique jewelry for years-entranced by the gorgeous workmanship & fabulous designs.
I longed to purchase a true antique Lover's Eye piece, but they were thousands of dollars & scarce as hen's teeth (many are now being faked with the revival in interest for these pieces) so I decided to paint my own & put them in the antique lockets I'd collected.
Eventually my line has come to include miniatures of mouths, skulls, Queen Bees, heraldic pieces, flowers ,beasts & royal hearts.
And that's how my line of hand painted modern paintings combined with antique jewelery was born.

Where it's possible I am happy to combine shipping-I will add the extra insurance charge onto the cost for the first item.

I do ship overseas-please inquire if you are in a country other than the United States.
Please contact me & I will look up the cost & let you know.
However it can be quite costly as I won't ship uninsured. The USPS seems to have tripled the cost to ship overseas recently.

If you are captivated by something but can't pay in one fell swoop ask me about Lay Away.
