A little history about the item (for those who are interested!)

During the communist occupation of Czechoslovakia a huge array of beautiful and innovative pieces were designed and produced. Due to the closed door nature of communism, many of these pieces are only now being discovered and documented.

The vase being sold here is from the Libochovice glassworks, which was part of the Sklo Union group. Sklo Union was established in 1965 during the reorganisation of the Czech glassworks industry. Other factories in the alliance included Rudolfova Huť , Rosice, Nemsova and Heřmanova Huť.

Pavel Panek is one of the great Czech glass designers. Pavel was part of a select group of glass designers whose pieces are very much sought after and there is a whole section dedicated to him in Marcus Newhall's book referenced above.

We hope you found the information interesting and if you have anything to add, please let us know as we are always interested to learn more.
