Two French Boutis Hearts easily stitched by sewing two pieces of batiste together by hand with a running stitch over the lines of the pattern. From the back yarn is then drawn through the channels and motifs creating a raised relief to the piece. The ancient art of French Boutis is reversible and translucent allowing light to pass through illuminating the design. You will fall in love with the beauty of this delicate needle work!

These 4-3/4" hearts are a quick and easy way to try this exquisite needlework technique. It is a great project for a small needlework group as well.

Kit includes everything to make all two hearts, a white sun catcher and a pink sachet:

-Easy to read Instructions with photos
-Pattern
-4 squares of 8"x 8" white batiste
-2 squares of 8"x 8" pink batiste
-Cotton yarn - (white, red, green) (75% cotton/25% linen) (approx. 30 yds)
-White and Pink Thread
-#10 quilting needle
-#24 rd. pt. tapestry needle
-toothpicks

Other items necessary for making hearts: 4 or 5" hoop; embroidery scissors, thimble, pencil for tracing pattern, filling for sachet, ribbon or cord for hanging.

Suggested filling: crushed walnut shells and lavender buds, or fiberfill.
