Face paints have been used for thousands of years all over the world by shamans, ritualists, and pagan priests for ceremonies and rituals. Each colour serves a different purpose - red being the most ancient and common colour used. This red ritual face paint is crafted from natural red Ochre pigment, decayed Western Red Cedar wood, and petroleum jelly in place of the traditional animal fat. Red Ochre has a long history of being used for reddening the bones of ancestors mimicking the replacement of their blood and flesh so they may speak with us again. Red Cedar is revered locally as the World Tree, a mother, and giver or all life. Cedar is purifying, cleansing, healing, blessing, and protective.

Red ritual face paint has the following applications: for rituals of birth or saining a newborn, initiation into adulthood, a shamanic calling, or a witchcraft tradition; a rite or ceremony of physical or emotional healing; to paint symbols of protection on ritual attendees; to paint sigils on the body for a ritual; funeral rites or rituals of ancestor worship; and also for applying before going to battle or war to call upon the gods of spilled blood and wrath - whether it be a physical battle or a sorcerous one.

Does not stain the skin, wipes right off with a towel or tissue.
