If you find we do not ship to your country, contact us to find out if we might be able to. • We ship within 1-3 days of order via USPS, Fed Ex, and UPS. and any order of $100 or more will be insured via third party insurance. • Any package valued at $250 or more will require Signature upon delivery. Third Party insurer requires Signature in certain cases, so please do not ask that we ship without Signature as this creates a risk we are not willing to take.

• We accept returns. Per our policies, contact us within 14 days of delivery. Return shipping with insurance and tracking is at your expense. We process refunds once the item is returned in the same condition received. • If your item arrives damaged, photograph it with packaging so we may make a claim. • Returning an item is no fun; contact us before buying to ask questions or request additional photos. We can work with you on a payment plan with immediate down payment up to two months for full payment. Note that layaways past due over 30 days go into default. Will you reserve or hold items?

We do NOT do reserves or holds. Like any business, we use sales proceeds to keep the shop running. We truly can't afford to take items off the market. But even if you have some funds with which to make a down payment, we can do layaway with you. Just convo to say you'd like to do a layaway, and we'll work with you on that route instead of a Hold or Reserve.

Can you tell me SOLD prices?

We get correspondance almost daily asking how much certain items are worth or what the price was of items that have sold, and we can no longer respond to these messages.

This heavy yet not too large vintage brass hand door knocker is a beloved style, popular in the Victorian Era--a woman's hand with ring, grasping a ball. This back of the hand carries the imprint "JM," and there were several companies working in brass and iron producing architectural elements from the 1800s through the mid century, including the James Morrison Brass Mfg. Co. and JM Iron Art (although I've not been able to ascertain if the mark on this door knocker was for either of those companies). The "ball" in the hand has a slight resemblance to a pomegranate. I have sold several of these before that came to this part of the world via Spain, where they were known as the "Mano de Fatima" (and brought to Spain from the Moors in the 16th Century). The Hand of Fatima was once believed to protect the home and ward off evil. The hand offered here was likely produced in the first half of the 20th Century, possibly the 1930s. I have polished away stubborn tarnish spots and corrosive mold, to prevent brass disease. But the most important reason for polishing the piece was to bring out the incredible patina and appreciate how wonderfully brass ages with time The piece does NOT include hardware nor a strike plate, and among all the hand door knockers I have found, most no longer have their strike plates. If one's door is heavy enough, or if there is a bolt in the door underneath the door knocker, no strike plate is needed.

The door knocker measures about 1-5/8" wide by 4-1/2" tall, and note that the rectangle part that is attached to the door measures 2-1/8" wide by 1-3/4" tall. Weighs 1.7 pounds.
