Vintage Book, No Alibi, The Memoirs of Captain Alastair Mackintosh, HC/DJ/First Edition, 1961
Description
Vintage Book, No Alibi, The Memoirs of Captain Alastair Mackintosh, HC/DJ/First Edition, 1961.
I received this as a gift from my daughter and thought she gave it to me because of the plaid/tartan dust jacket. I thought it was a mystery with the title of No Alibi, but when I went to the title page I saw that it was a Memoir and I thought "do I really want to read the memoirs of someone I never heard of".
Well I decided to give it a try and boy and I glad I did. This fellow had such an interesting life. He spent time with Royals (especially the Prince of Wales or Edward VIII). The time period is from the turn of the century through the 1930's. He spent time with beautiful women (who all seemed to have some kind of title) and stayed at the most extravagant homes. He traveled to America and stayed with the Vanderbilt's and became involved with the Florida land sales that were going on at that time. He married and divorced twice and had two little girls with his second wife. I lost count of the different types of investments he was involved in. I think you will enjoy this!
The dust jacket has wear on the edges and has been covered with a clear mylar cover to protect it. The hardcover has wear on the tips and ends of spine. A previous owner has written a name and date inside.
