Description

This piece comes with a written interpretation of the symbolism contained inside the sundial. There is deep meaning behind each object drawn by the artist. You are purchasing a professional copy of the original art.

This Sundial was originally a gift for a family friend going through a divorce and navigating single parenthood. A journey or strength and a woman's spirit and ability to overcome adversity. This is an excerpt from the attached written interpretation: The Circle signifies the force or spirit innate in every woman. The Candles that encompass the form of this sundial signify multiple lights of hope. The Dragonfly- dragonflies are found all around the globe and have different representations throughout different cultures. However, there are three similarities among them; hope, change and love. In our culture dragonflies are most commonly associated with symbols of change, strength, transformation, renewal and a positive force and power of life in general. They are also a symbol of the sense of self that comes with maturity. The Lotus Flowers- The lotus flower roots in the mud and rises to blossom into one of the most beautiful flowers in nature- The same way women rise from adversity with strength, courage and knowledge to become even more beautiful and wise. The Anchor is a symbol of Hope. When a ship raises its anchor it is a signal that it is leaving its port and is on its way to a new voyage. This is a metaphor for how we feel when we finally decide to leave a stagnant portion of our lives behind in order to begin a new voyage. Raise your anchor and venture forth into a new era with hope, excitement, new dreams and aspirations! Trust confidently the skills and knowledge that lie within you. Remain steadfast. The Compass represents the poem by William Ernest Henley "Invictus".

All of my prints are made using premium inks and high quality paper. This ensures fade resistance, and an almost exact reproduction of the original illustration. This listing is for a Matte finish only, and the work is printed on Matte Finish 80lb Cardstock. Ideal for framing. Comes signed and dated with current year on the back.
